UPI payment safety when buying online services

Published 16 October 2026 · 1 min read

UPI is safe when you follow a few simple rules. Most UPI frauds trick people into approving a payment they thought was a refund or a prize. Knowing the rules makes you very hard to scam.

The golden rules

  • You enter your PIN only to send money. Never to receive money. If anyone asks you to enter your PIN to “receive” a payment, it is a scam.
  • Check the payee name shown by your UPI app before you approve.
  • Pay only on the page you opened yourself from the site, not from links sent in chat or email.
  • Keep the transaction reference. It helps support find a payment fast.
  • Never share your PIN or OTP, even with someone claiming to be from your bank.

How payment works on our site

When you add funds, you are taken to a secure UPI payment page. You scan a QR code or approve a collect request in your UPI app. Only the success or failure result comes back to us. We never see your UPI PIN or bank account details.

If a payment is deducted but the wallet is not credited

  1. Wait up to 30 minutes. Bank confirmations are sometimes delayed.
  2. Check your bank statement for the debit and note the UPI reference number.
  3. Send the reference through our contact page.
  4. We match it with the payment and credit your wallet.

If a payment fails

Failed UPI payments are normally returned by the bank within a few working days. You have not been charged by us, and you can try again.

Red flags

  • Requests for a small “verification” payment.
  • Messages claiming you won a prize.
  • Pressure to pay immediately.
