Facebook post reactions: like, love, care, haha, wow, sad, angry
Published 21 September 2026 · 1 min read
Reactions let people respond with more than a simple like. Each type tells a slightly different story, and a natural post shows a sensible mix.
What each reaction signals
- Like: general approval. Always the most common.
- Love and Care: warm posts, family moments, charity and support.
- Haha: humour and memes.
- Wow: surprising news, achievements and reveals.
- Sad: bad news, tributes and difficult stories.
- Angry: serious complaints and controversial news.
What a natural mix looks like
Most posts get a majority of Likes with a smaller share of Love and a few others. A post showing hundreds of a rare reaction and almost no likes looks odd. Match the reaction to the tone of the post: a festival greeting attracts Love and Like, not Angry.
| Post type | Likely reactions |
|---|---|
| Product or offer | Like, Love |
| Humour | Haha, Like |
| News | Like, Wow, Sad, Angry |
| Celebration | Love, Care, Like |
Using services sensibly
Many pages add reactions to key posts so they do not look ignored. Keep numbers in proportion to your real reach, and pick a type that fits the post. See reaction options, including mixed packs.
Earning real reactions
- Ask a simple question in the post.
- Post at times your audience is online.
- Use strong images and a short caption.
