Facebook page likes vs followers: what is the difference?
Published 18 September 2026 · 1 min read
On Facebook, a page like and a page follow once meant the same thing. They are now counted separately, and the difference matters when you buy or measure growth.
The difference
- Likes: people who clicked Like on your page. This used to follow automatically.
- Followers: people who see your posts in their feed. Anyone can follow without liking.
Which matters more
Followers matter more for reach because they determine who may see your posts. Likes still act as a visible trust number on the page header, and some people look at both.
What services deliver
Many services deliver likes plus followers together. Others deliver only followers or only likes. Read each service name to see which it adds, since they behave differently. “Page / Profile followers” services add followers to a page or a profile, depending on the link.
Choosing
| Your goal | Choose |
|---|---|
| Make a new page look established | Likes + followers |
| Increase feed reach potential | Followers |
| Personal profile with the follow button | Profile followers |
Keep it proportionate
If your page has 20,000 followers but posts get five likes, the page looks hollow. Add engagement to match, and keep posting real content.
