A 30-day Instagram growth plan for beginners

Published 11 October 2026 · 1 min read

Thirty days is long enough to build a habit and to learn what your audience likes. This plan assumes about an hour a day and a phone. It focuses on actions you control, not on follower targets.

Week 1: Set up

  • Fix your bio, profile photo and highlights.
  • Pick a topic and three content pillars.
  • Publish your first nine posts: three reels, three carousels, three stories saved as highlights.
  • Switch to a creator or business account for access to Insights.

Week 2: Show up

  • One reel a day, using the same hook structure.
  • Stories every day with at least one interactive sticker.
  • Fifteen minutes a day leaving real comments on pages in your niche.
  • Reply to every comment and DM on your own posts.

Week 3: Learn

  • Open Insights. Which three posts got the most saves and shares?
  • List what they have in common: topic, hook, length, music.
  • Make five more reels in that style.

Week 4: Double down

  • Cut formats that flopped.
  • Collaborate with one similar-sized creator on a collab post.
  • Pin your best three posts.
  • Write your plan for the next 30 days.

Where a small push can fit

If the page looks empty after setup, some people add a modest follower base and a few likes to key posts in week 1 so visitors see a lived-in profile. Start small; our followers page shows options. Treat it as support for real content, never as a replacement.
