Native ads and social views on YouTube: what they mean
Published 27 September 2026 · 1 min read
Some services describe YouTube views as “native”, “social” or “ads”. These words describe where the traffic comes from, and they matter for price, minimum order and what you can expect.
What each term means
- Social: viewers arriving from other platforms and apps, such as shared or embedded links.
- Native ads: promotional placements that send viewers to your video.
- Ads / Adwords: views arriving through YouTube ad campaigns, usually with a high minimum quantity.
- Suggested / search: views that look like they came from recommendations or Google search.
What to check before ordering
- The minimum order size. Ad-sourced services often start at 10,000 or more.
- Whether the video must allow embedding.
- The refill or guarantee period.
- The speed per day.
- Whether the service says anything about retention.
Why prices differ
Ad-sourced and high-retention views cost more than basic ones because they involve real distribution or longer watch times. Basic views are cheapest but add little watch time.
Does it help monetisation?
Watch time from non-genuine sources may not count toward monetisation and can be removed. Real viewers and retention are what protect your channel, so treat views as a supplement.
