How to earn money from a Telegram channel in India
Published 24 September 2026 · 1 min read
Telegram does not pay you for members. Money comes from what you do with the audience: promotions, links, subscriptions and products. Here are the routes Indian channels use, and what each needs.
Common routes
- Affiliate links: deals and shopping channels earn a commission when members buy through their links.
- Sponsored posts: brands pay per post, usually based on average views.
- Paid groups: exam coaching, trading education, premium notes or tips behind a subscription.
- Own products: courses, PDFs, services, templates.
- Telegram ads: Telegram’s own ad platform is available to channels that meet its requirements.
What brands look at
- Average views per post, which matters more than member count.
- The type of audience and their location.
- Posting consistency.
- How engaged members are with reactions and replies.
Audience needed
Affiliate channels can earn with a few thousand active members if the niche is right. Sponsorships usually need steady views in the thousands. Paid groups can work with a few hundred if the content is valuable.
Keep trust
Only promote things you would use. Disclose paid posts, and keep a mix of free value with promotions. Channels that become all adverts lose members.
Plan
- Build a base of members who care about your topic.
- Track average views per post.
- Test one monetisation route at a time.
- Keep the feed useful.
