RPM: meaning and how it works

Published 1 October 2026

RPM is the revenue a creator earns per thousand views after YouTube’s share.

It is usually lower than CPM and is what you actually receive.

How it works in practice

RPM includes all revenue sources and is what the creator actually receives per thousand video views, which makes it more useful for planning than CPM.

Example

Example: a video with 50,000 views and a ₹60 RPM earns about ₹3,000.
